Close account

A reader's guide to closing a rummy account — what to withdraw first, what KYC to keep on file, and what state to expect after.

Closing a rummy account is a multi-step process, not a single button. The four steps are: withdraw any remaining balance, complete or confirm KYC, request account closure, and request data deletion. Each step has a downstream effect on the next.

Step 1 · Withdraw any remaining balance

Before closing the account, withdraw any remaining balance to your verified bank or UPI. The withdrawal request must be processed before the account closure, otherwise the funds can be held in a suspended account.

Check the bonus status first. If you have an active bonus, the bonus-derived winnings may be removed during the closure. Either complete the bonus wagering or accept the loss before requesting closure.

Confirm the withdrawal rail is still operational. UPI IDs can expire, and bank accounts can be closed. Verify the destination account is active before submitting the withdrawal.

Step 2 · Confirm or complete KYC

KYC is required for the withdrawal to be processed. If KYC is incomplete, the platform will hold the request and may require documents before releasing the funds.

The standard KYC pack is: a government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, passport or voter ID), a recent address proof (utility bill or bank statement), and a cancelled cheque or bank statement showing the account holder's name and IFSC.

Uploads typically take 24–72 hours to verify. Live chat is the fastest way to check the status if the verification window is exceeded.

Step 3 · Request account closure

Once the balance is withdrawn and KYC is complete, request account closure. The request is usually submitted through the platform's settings or via the customer-care channel.

The closure request typically takes 24–48 hours to process. During that window, the account is read-only — you cannot play new hands, but you can see the historical statement.

Some platforms offer a "cooling-off" period in which the closure can be reversed. If you change your mind, contact customer care within that window. After the cooling-off window, the account is permanently closed.

Step 4 · Request data deletion

Account closure does not automatically delete the data the platform holds on you. Data deletion is a separate request under the platform's privacy policy.

Most platforms retain a minimal record for regulatory and anti-money-laundering purposes — typically your KYC documents, transaction history and account identifiers for a stated period (commonly 5–7 years after the last transaction).

Beyond the regulatory minimum, you can request deletion of optional data — saved preferences, communication history, marketing consent. The platform's privacy team handles these requests, usually within 30 days.

What state to expect after closure

After closure, the account is read-only. You cannot log in to play, but the platform's statement page may still be available for a short period.

Email communications typically stop after the closure is processed. Marketing emails can still be unsubscribed via the link in any platform email.

Bonuses attached to the account are forfeited. Any pending tournament entries are cancelled and the entry fee is refunded (or not, depending on the platform's terms — check the tournament rules).

Affiliate or referral earnings that are unpaid at the time of closure are typically held until the next payout cycle, then transferred through the normal payment rails.

Reopening after closure

Some platforms allow reopening within the cooling-off window. After the window, reopening requires a new KYC submission.

If you anticipate reopening, ask customer care to apply a "temporary hold" rather than a "closure". The temporary hold freezes the account but keeps the KYC and balance intact, so reopening is faster.

Reopening after permanent closure typically requires a fresh registration with a new email and a new KYC submission. Existing bonuses are not restored.

Account closure questions, answered plainly

What happens to my bonus balance if I close the account?

Active bonuses are forfeited at the time of closure. Withdrawn bonuses that have already cleared are part of your real-money balance and are paid out through the normal withdrawal path.

Can I withdraw my balance after closing the account?

Withdrawal must be completed before the closure is processed. Once the account is closed, a withdrawal request is typically not possible.

Will my KYC documents be deleted?

Not immediately. Platforms retain KYC for a regulatory minimum period (commonly 5–7 years). After that period, the documents are deleted. You can request confirmation of the retention schedule.

What if I want to return to the platform later?

Request a temporary hold instead of a closure. If the closure is permanent, you can register again later, but a new KYC will be required.
